Paintings from the heart by Rana

Jenni Rodger was born and brought up in a seventeenth century timber-framed house in Smarden, Kent. It was here that her fascination with old buildings was awakened, and she first felt inspired to capture the form and character of these outstanding buildings in watercolours and pen and ink drawings.

Widespread recognition, initially locally, of the artist’s exceptional capacity to capture the detail and form of these buildings, came about as a result of many successful exhibitions, and word of mouth; resulting in numerous commissions locally and now largely in France, where she is resident. She has also written and illustrated two books on local Kentish history: ‘Smarden, a pictorial History` and ‘Cranbrook’, both published by Meresborough books.

The architectural portraits make a wonderful gift, whatever the occasion, be it retirement, birthday, Christmas or simply a ‘thank you’, as do the pen and ink drawings; which are also very impressive as portraits, and are ideal for reproduction on to headed note-paper, change of address and business cards, menus, and promotional material of all sorts.

Jenni’s artistic talent spills over into other areas. Her cheerful and brightly coloured  designs carry a message of joy and optimism, and have been widely used on T-shirts and greeting cards, under the name of RANA Designs

Her ‘paintings from the heart’ are likewise a colourful and uplifting experience, reflecting a deep love for The Earth and all who dwell on it.
